The Brooks now offers virtual group visits via Zoom and Teams

Classes are 40 minutes in length and are available Monday through Friday. All virtual visits must be booked a minimum of two weeks in advance and require at least 10 participants. This is a free program open to all ages and types of groups.

Virtual Visits

Virtual group visits can include an optional art making activity.  Please note that if you choose to include art making in the program only basic supplies are needed such as paper, crayons, glue, and scissors.  It is the responsibility of the participants to provide their own supplies.

We are currently offering the following virtual group visit choices:

  • Arts of Global Africa- Explore the rich creative output of Africa by examining both historical and contemporary artwork from across the continent. Learn how to create a mural inspired by Nigerian artist Victor Ekpuk.  Art supplies: paper, pencils, crayons/markers.
  • Narrative in Art- Use art to explore English Language Arts skills such as story structure, character and setting, and descriptive writing.  Participants will write poetry and create a comic strip. Art supplies: paper, pencils, crayons/markers
  • STEAM- Use art as a jumping off point to explore concepts of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Art supplies: paper, pencils, crayons
  • Portraiture-Examine the portraits of the Brooks collection to learn how this art form has changed over time.  Use our collection as inspiration for creating your own portrait. Art supplies: paper, pencils, crayons/colored pencils.  
  • Collection Highlights- Travel through history by learning about an artwork from each major time period.  This field trip has no art making portion and is recommended for high school and adult groups.

Art Therapy Access Program

Art therapy is defined by the American Art Therapy Association as a mental health profession in which clients, facilitated by a masters-level art therapist, use art media, the creative process, and the resulting artwork to explore their feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, manage behavior and addictions, develop social skills, improve reality orientation, reduce anxiety, and increase self-esteem.
