Job Title: Facilities Technician
Department: Earned Income, Facilities Services
Reports To: Facilities Services Supervisor
Pay Rate/Hours: $16 per hour; 2nd shift. flex
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
The Facilities Technician supports the cleanliness, presentation, and daily readiness of all guest-facing museum spaces. This role plays an essential part in ensuring the museum environment is welcoming, safe, and consistently maintained to the highest standards.
Working across public spaces and select back-of-house areas, this position partners closely with the Production team, Building Engineering, and other departments to maintain museum-wide readiness for daily operations, programs, and rental events.
Key Responsibilities
Guest-Facing Space Readiness & Event Support
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards across public areas, restrooms, and event spaces
- Conduct daily walkthroughs of public spaces to identify and address cleanliness, safety, or presentation concerns
- Follow daily cleaning schedules and task lists
- Support museum readiness during events, operating hours and after operating hours
- Respond promptly to facility-related requests, perform routine maintenance and repairs to guest facing spaces
- Monitor supply inventory
- Assist with event and program set-ups and resets, ensuring spaces are prepared for programs and rental events
Safety, Compliance & Vendor Coordination
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards in public areas
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures
- Support cleaning vendors or external service providers to ensure standards are met
- Communicate facility needs clearly and professionally
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of cleanliness standards and public space presentation
- High attention to detail in maintaining a polished, guest-ready environment
- Understanding of safety practices and OSHA standards
- Ability to identify issues proactively and take initiative
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, public-facing setting
- Commitment to providing an exceptional guest experience
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1–3 years of experience in facilities support, custodial services, hospitality, or public venue operations preferred
- Museum, cultural institution, hospitality, or event venue experience a plus
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods
- Ability to move throughout large public spaces
