Bartender

The Bartender will provide professional bartending services for the event(s) scheduled at The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art.

Services include but are not limited to:

● Serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

● Monitoring guest alcohol consumption to ensure responsible service.

● Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar area.

● Be able to work 6 hours or more per event. Breaks given for events exceeding 6 hours.

● Event types included but are not limited to: Weddings, exhibition openings, holiday parties, cash bar events, etc.

Compensation: $20 per hour, to be paid via ACH on the Friday of the week the event takes place. Cash tips will be issued on the day of the event. Credit card tips will be available for pick up on the following Thursday and will be held for 30 days.

2. Alcohol Regulations & Service

● The Bartender must comply with all state and local alcohol laws and museum policies, explained upon hire.

● Over-serving, meaning continuing to serve someone who is showing signs of visible intoxication, which can lead to accidents and injuries, and serving guests under 21 years old is strictly prohibited.

● On Premise establishments, like the museum, do not have mandatory carding policy, however, it is against the law to serve anyone under the age of 21. The ID cannot be

expired. A carding exemption can be made for those who are obviously over the age of 50. The Bartender must card all other individuals.

● Shots are not allowed to be served here at the museum.

● Proof of current alcohol server certification/TN ABC license is required.

3. Scheduling

The Bartender will enroll in the Hotschedules scheduling platform upon hire. On this scheduling site the bartender will be able to pick up shifts, trade shifts and see their schedule. Shifts may be posted up to 3 months in advance, available for pick up. All scheduling will be pick-up only or discussed individually beforehand.

4. Conduct & Professionalism

● The Bartender shall behave in a professional, respectful manner at all times. ● Any harassment, intoxication, inappropriate behavior, or unprofessional conduct may result in immediate termination of services.

● Bartenders may not consume alcohol while working.

5. Non-Discrimination Policy

The Bartender agrees to uphold a zero-tolerance policy against discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, national origin, or any other protected characteristic. Inclusive and respectful service to all guests is expected.

6. Dress Code

Bartenders are required to wear all-black, business casual attire while on duty. The standard attire is a black shirt with sleeves and black dress pants.

7. Cancellation Policy

If the event is canceled and the Bartender is notified at least 3 days in advance, no payment will be issued. If cancellation occurs less than 3 days before the event, payment equal to half of the total owed will be issued to the Bartender. If the bartender needs to cancel an event, please notify your contact at the museum 3 days prior to the event, otherwise the bartender may not be contacted to work at the museum in the future.

8. Liability & Insurance

● The Bartender agrees to perform services at their own risk and holds the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art harmless from any liability related to personal injury or damage resulting from misconduct or negligence.

● Proof of liability insurance (if applicable) may be required.

9. Independent Contractor

The Bartender is engaged as an independent contractor and is not an employee of the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. The Bartender is responsible for their own taxes and benefits. The Bartender will provide an accurate W9 and vendor registration form to The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art upon hire. Payment for services will not be released until the forms are on file. A I099 will be issued the month following the end of the calendar year, if applicable.

10. Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement in writing with at least 72 hours notice. Immediate termination may occur for breach of conduct or safety policies.
