General Description:
The Security Command Center - Console Operator plays a crucial and multifaceted role within our organization's security infrastructure. While the primary responsibility revolves around internal alarm monitoring, the position demands a comprehensive approach to physical security data management. This includes diligently monitoring, thoroughly researching, meticulously reviewing, and incisively analyzing various physical security data sources. The ultimate goal is to ensure the timely dissemination and accurate reporting of critical information, thereby upholding compliance with established standard operating procedures in a dynamic and fast-paced operational environment. Furthermore, the Console Operator provides vital support for the security needs across all our facilities, acting as a central hub for security intelligence and response.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Technical System Administration & Monitoring: Possess basic experience in the configuration and administration of technical physical security systems. This includes, but is not limited to, access control platforms, alarm monitoring systems, video surveillance platforms, and other data capturing systems essential for comprehensive security oversight.
- Intrusion Alarm Response: Continuously monitor the intrusion alarm system, promptly verifying the alarm trigger through video surveillance. Upon confirmation, immediately notify the security management team to initiate appropriate response protocols.
- Incident Video Management: Review incident-based video footage, carefully selecting and downloading relevant clips to secure storage. Efficiently distribute this footage to authorized personnel and departments as needed for investigation, reporting, and training purposes.
- Major Incident Escalation & Communication: Provide appropriate and timely escalation during major incidents, preparing clear, concise, and accurate communications. This involves effectively relaying critical information to the security management team and other relevant departments, ensuring a coordinated and effective response.
- Independent Work Ethic: Demonstrate the ability to work independently, at times with minimal direct supervision, making sound decisions and prioritizing tasks effectively to maintain continuous security operations.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Security Console Operations Experience: While prior experience in security console operations is a plus, it is not strictly required. We are committed to training the right candidate who demonstrates potential, a strong work ethic, and a genuine interest in security.
- Security Equipment Knowledge: Possess a working knowledge of various security equipment, including Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems, alarm systems, and access control systems. Familiarity with these tools is fundamental to effective monitoring and response.
- Alarm Monitoring Experience: Experience with alarm monitoring is a significant advantage, indicating a foundational understanding of alarm protocols and response procedures.
- Specific System Experience: Experience utilizing Kantec Access Control and Exacq Camera systems is a plus, as familiarity with these specific platforms can expedite the onboarding process.
- Adaptability and Flexibility: Must demonstrate the ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to changing priorities and evolving security situations, maintaining composure and effectiveness under pressure.
- Microsoft Office Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel, is required for effective communication, documentation, and data management.
- Reliability and Dependability: Must be reliable, punctual, and highly dependable, demonstrating a strong commitment to attendance and fulfilling responsibilities. The role requires flexibility to work various schedules, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and occasionally cover staffing shortages or fill in for time off requests.
- Sustained Focus and Alertness: Possess the ability to remain alert and focused while on duty, regardless of workload fluctuations or the time of day or night, ensuring continuous vigilance.
- State and Local Compliance: Must be able to pass all of the State of TN requirements for an unarmed security officer and successfully complete Dallas Law Training, ensuring full compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Dual Role Position: This is a dual role position, indicating that the Console Operator may be expected to perform additional security-related tasks or functions as needed, beyond the core console responsibilities.
- Must be able to obtain a State of Tennessee Security License after 90 day probation, this will include State required Dallas Law Training, CPR/First Aid, Safe Restraints and Descalation Training. Paid by the Memphis Brooks Museum
- High School Diploma or Associates degree
- Position is Part-Time (28hrs. Per week)
- Salary is 17.00 per hour
- After a 90 day probationary period and security license has been obtained, this position qualifies for a possible increase in salary.
