“Tear It Down” : The Role of Art Museums and Cultural Institutions in the Time of Protest
This month, the Brooks’ Literary Salon returns with a conversation about increased calls for the removal of Confederate statues; the repatriation of objects in museums both in the USA and abroad; the protests taking place all over the country calling for racial justice; and the role of museums and cultural institutions in all of this. We will begin with a brief PowerPoint presentation on the history of iconoclasm, before looking at a selection of short articles and video clips.
This event will be presented for free on Zoom.
