Fashion collides with the tension and release of yoga in this month’s Café Conversation on Rotunda Projects: E.V. Day – Divas Ascending. Join local fine arts painter and yoga instructor Arline Jernigan and the Brooks’ Donor Relations Manager Braden Hixson for a conversation centered on the mysterious suspended figures of Divas Ascending. Over the course of the program, we will examine how the floating Divas that are stretched and full of tension remind Jernigan of her yoga practice. “I have always been creative in the way I approach things, and through the practice of yoga, I have become open to a completely fresh and limitless way of looking at things,” Jernigan says in a recent artist statement. “Because of this, I seem to have a richer experience to my world, and in particular, my art.”
Arline Jernigan has been teaching yoga since 2000. She currently teaches at HAUS Yoga and Delta Groove. She received her MFA from the Memphis College of Art and has exhibited her work in the Cooper Young Art Gallery, Perry Nicole Art Gallery, and the yearly Women’s Exchange juried show.
This program will be presented on Zoom. Registration is required.
