Established in the 1950s, the Brooks Library began as a modest collection of reference books. Today the collection of the library numbers more than 5,000 items on art, art history, and photography. These items include art auction catalogues, art exhibition catalogues, artist files, books, and periodicals.
The Brooks Library supports scholarly research on the collections and exhibitions presented at the Brooks. The strengths of the library’s holdings complement the strengths of the museum’s permanent collection. One of the library’s greatest resources for research is its very extensive collection of exhibition catalogs/publications from galleries and museums throughout the United States, as well as Europe, Asia, and other international institutions.
The Brooks Library is open by appointment only. To make an appointment please call 901.544.6200 or click here to email the Brooks' Librarian.
