On a flight bound for Mexico, bisexual pilots Benito and Alex, gay stewards Ulloa,
Fajardo, and Joserra, and a plane full of bizarre characters are in for the
ride that could determine the rest of their lives when an unchecked part of the
plane leaves them with one less yet significant piece of landing gear.
New Yorker film critic Richard Brody says, “I’m So Excited! plays for big
metaphorical stakes and, for the most part, meets the challenge. The movie—or,
rather, Almodóvar—bubbles over with ideas, starting with the opening scene,
featuring the two biggest stars, Penélope Cruz and Antonio Banderas, in slight
and goofy near-cameo roles as the ground crew that, surprisingly, proves to
have a major impact on the events in the air.”
