On June 19th Wacky Wednesday will celebrate the art
of Romare Bearden with an art-making activity in our Open Artworks Studio and
short films. This week’s films include Harlem, The Dot, and Eyes on
the Stars, an animated film directed by Mike and Tim Rauch as part of the
StoryCorps oral history project (StoryCorps Animation, USA, 2012, www.storycorps.org). While you’re here,
take a look around the galleries, and our newly opened special exhibit The
Crossroads of Memory: Carroll Cloar and the American South. The special
exhibition also contains an interactive gallery made for all ages!
Every Wednesday in June and July, come get wacky at the
Museum admission and all activities are free, so the whole community can
experience the creativity and inspiration of both the visual arts and film.
Children of all ages and their adult friends can drop into our Artworks Studio
and create a variety of projects using many different materials. They can also
watch a multitude of films made just for kids. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Reservations are required for groups of 10 or more. To schedule
your group visit to Wacky Wednesday, please call 901-544-6215.
