his real dream is to paint and make films, something that neither friends nor
family can understand as their reality is dominated by the turbulence of the
times. Winner for Best Screenplay at the 2012 Venice Film Festival, Something In the Air, a
semi-autobiographical offering from the filmmaker behind Summer Hours and Carlos,
has been compared to Bernardo Bertolucci’s The
Dreamers. But, says the Chicago
Reader, “This is a much better film, infused with Assayas’ characteristic
love for the freshness of nature and the eagerness of youth.”
