Berlioz’s French grand opera, based on Virgil’s The Aeneid,in five acts. Les Troyens is Berlioz's most ambitious work, the summation of his entire artistic career, but he did not live to see it performed in its entirety. Representing opera at its most epic, the sheer scale of its story, music, passion, staging and performers make this one of the great Royal Opera House events of the decade. Eva-Maria Westbroek’s “big, shimmering, dark-hued voice [is] ideal” as the heroine Didon, and Anna Caterina Antonacci “triumphed...her singing was lush, fervent, finely spun and noble. A lovely woman, she is a riveting actress” raves Anthony Tommasini of the New York Times.Monday through Friday, during normal business hours, you may call 901.544.6208 to purchase tickets by phone.
