When noted biographer Anne Sebba first visited Brooks in 2008, she entertained her Decorative Arts Trust audience with stories of the American heiresses who traveled to England and Europe in search of titled aristocrats to burnish the families' standings. While in the United States, she continued her research into the back story of perhaps the most famous of them all: Wallis Simpson. By any measure, the woman who would change the monarchy of England for all time, was the most expensive trinket ever acquired. Ms. Sebba charmed us before with images of the clothes, jewels, houses and gardens woven into the histories and gossipy stories of The Dollar Princesses. Her take on That Woman promises all that and more.
Sponsors, Donors and Associate members will be treated to an English Garden Party complete with Pimm's cups and champagne following Anne Sebba's presentation.
