Cloar’s painting Gibson Bayou Anthology was inspired by Edgar Lee Masters’ classic collection of 244 poems, Spoon River Anthology, which comprises elegies of the residents of a fictional Midwestern town. Chatterbox Audio Theater, Memphis’s only web-based theater company, has undertaken a project to record Masters’ entire work, and will perform selections in a special live event at the Brooks, with an introduction by Dr. Stanton Thomas.
