Talk by Dr. Mark Cole: The Magic of Carroll Cloar

01/01/0001, 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM

Free with museum admission / Free for Brooks members and students with valid I.D. map

Join us for a curator talk, led by Dr. Mark Cole, associate curator of American painting and sculpture at the Cleveland Museum of Art.  Although Carroll Cloar created deeply personal paintings intimately inspired by his Mid-South surroundings, his images have strong affinities with a wide-ranging movement in American art known as Magic Realism.  This illustrated presentation looks at Cloar’s work amid the fascinating backdrop of magic realist painting, including such famed practitioners as Andrew Wyeth.

Have lunch before the talk! The Brushmark Restaurant is open from 11 am – 2:30 pm. To make lunch reservations please call 901.544.6225 or click here.
