Join us for a special gallery talk about Black Resistance: Ernest C. Withers and the Civil Rights Movement led by Charlie Newman with special guest Otis Sanford.
Sanford is the Hardin Chair of Excellence in Economic and Managerial Journalism at the University of Memphis. Learn more about him here. Copies of his new book, From Boss Crump to King Willie: How Race Changed Memphis Politics, will be available for purchase.
Newman was one of the attorneys who represented Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. just before his death in 1968, and his gallery talk will focus on his experiences during that time as reflected in the photographs in the exhibition.
