Founded in 2015 in Memphis, Tennessee, by Lucy Hargrove in her junior year of high school, GrrlPunch is a diary-like publication for young creatives. “I want GrrlPunch to be like reading a diary or letter from your best friend,” Hargrove said. Raw, relatable, full of fears, dreams, joy, and comforting Spotify playlists, GrrlPunch has established an online haven for girls across the world to share their opinions, art, and writing with readers.
For this conversation, Editor-in-Chief Hargrove and Managing Editor Emily Zachry will not only talk about the foundation of this empowered Memphis magazine, but they will also discuss the changing media landscape on a broader level. We will begin by examining art in the Contemporary Gallery by female artists who made bold artistic choices before transitioning to the café for an open conversation about the mission of GrrlPunch and artwork in the permanent collection that inspires Hargrove and Zachry. Grab a cup of coffee and invite a friend. Café Conversations are not the same without you!
