For Freedoms | Art of Change Town Hall
10/17/2018, 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM
Memphis Brooks Museum of Art | Free map
In October, Memphis Brooks Museum of Art joins the nationwide For Freedoms movement along with Memphis College of Art, Rhodes College, Christian Brothers University, and the University of Memphis. In 2018, For Freedoms launched The 50 State Initiative, a new phase of programming that preceded the midterm elections. Building off of the existing artistic infrastructure in the United States, For Freedoms developed a network of artists and institutional partners to produce nationwide public art installations, exhibitions, and local community dialogues in order to inject nuanced, artistic thinking into public discourse.
You're invited to participate in an artist led town hall meeting in the Brooks' Dorothy K. Hohenberg Auditorium with innovative change agents working towards a better Memphis for all. Moderated by Memphis artist Yancy Villa-Calvo, with panelists Whitney Hardy (Young Arts Patrons + Young Arts Contemporary), Aaron Snowden (Snowden House), Brock Berriel (Altown Skate Park) and Britney Thornton (JUICE Orange Mound).
